Amber is pine resin which has fossilised over million of years. Although actually organic it is sometimes considered and used as a gemstone.  Most of the worlds Amber is in the range of 30-90 million years old.  Often Amber has insects and plant matter encased inside, these specimens can be preserved in perfect condition.
