Obsidian is a volcanic glass that occurs in a variety of colours such as black, brown, green, red/black, brown/black, mahogany, black with rainbow patterns/colours, black and white know as snowflake obsidian.


The fragments of the rock are sharp and have been used as cutting implements.


  

The name Apache Tear comes from a Native American legend that Apache Tear Obsidian was formed from the tears of dead Apache Warriors wives. From this legendary tale, Apache Tear Obsidian is said to be a stone to help release negative emotions.
