Burning Herbs - Sage & Cedar - Smudge Stick

A 5” smudge stick of Sage and Cedar.

Smudge sticks are  made of  herbs and plants, usually bound with string in a small bundle and dried, they are burnt as part of an energy cleansing ritual or ceremony.

How to use a Smudge Stick

Light the end of your smudge stick and after it has ignited, extinguish the flame. The stick will remain glowing and producing smoke.

# Direct the smoke around your body, the area/object you wish to cleanse or another person’s body.  You may wish to hold a container in your other hand to catch ashes or to serve as a resting place for the smouldering stick, you can use a feather to direct the smoke where you want it to go.  

# Direct the smoke around your home or a place of ceremony to purify the energy that is present, the smoke from the smudge stick may also be directed as an invocation honouring the four directions and the Father Sun and The Mother Earth

After use, completely extinguish your smudge stick by smothering the end, you can use sand  to do this. Make sure the stick is completely extinguished or it may continue to burn.
