Calcite is a very common and widespread mineral which comes in a variety of colours, such as White, Yellow, Red, Orange, Blue, Green, Brown, Grey.

It also occurs in a wide variety of forms, the molecular structure of the crystals is rhombohedral (cube like) but specimens can appear as as scalenohedrons (mirror image pyrimid shape), prisms (triangle like), masses (consisting of or forming a large mass), stalactites (icicle like). 

Calcite makes up the major part of most marbles and limestones.
