Quartz is the second most abundant mineral in the Earth’s continental crust, after feldspar.

Hematite is an iron oxide mineral. It’s crystal system is hexagonal (trigonal). It’s name is derived from the Greek word for blood.

The mineral Pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulphide. This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold.
