A story of lost camels! In 2016 while searching for their lost camels, two brothers came across a group of large, very dense stones in the area to the west of the village of Habaswein and to the south of Sericho, Kenya. As there are no naturally occurring rocks in this area, it was decided that they must be meteorites.

The meteorites are found in a strewn field over 45km long and the weights of pieces found range from a few grams to over 500kg with the majority of fragments coming in under 50kg. As of April 2021 over 2800kg of the material has been recovered and locals still continue to recover material which is mostly found just sitting on the surface. Because of the atmospheric conditions in the dry region fragments show very little (if any) signs of weathering.

Several flight oriented pieces have been found including one at 129kg and two around 16kg.

According to the Meteoritical Society only 62 meteorites have been officially classed as pallasites, of which this is a fragment.
