A complex mix of minerals this piece from Alston Moor, England consists of Sphalerite, Pyrite and Calcite.

   


Sphalerite is a zinc sulfide mineral and occurs in massive, concretionary, granular and botryoidal forms. It’s colour can ranges widely, including shades red, black, brown, yellow, green, grey, white, and sometimes colourless.

   

The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulphide with the chemical formula FeS2. This mineral's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal.

The ancient Incas used Pyrite as mirrors. It is found all over the world, but important deposits are in Italy, Spain and Peru.

Emotional properties of Pyrite are is said to be it may encourage one to overcome fears and take action. It may be used to help bring one out of one’s shell and to encourage one to be more dynamic and confident.

Physical properties are said to be the Sulphur component of Pyrite aids in purifying the body of infection and may stimulating proper endocrine function. It may be excellent for combatting male impotence and infertility. It’s iron component focuses the power of Pyrite into the blood and tissues, allowing it to may be used to combat skin disease, fungal infection and cellular invasion by viruses.

  

Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral. Calcites are among the most varied and abundant crystals, and they occur in a wide variety of forms and colours. The molecular structure of the crystals is rhombohedral, but specimens can appear as as scalenohedrons, rhombohedrons, prisms, masses, stalactites, etc. Calcite makes up the major part of most marbles and limestones. Calcite crystals are found on every continent. Large deposits of brightly coloured Calcites occur in Mexico, and some of the most desired forms, such as Stellar Beam Calcites, are found in the USA.

All forms of Calcite are is said to be excellent at removing blockages and assisting one in moving beyond past patterns. They may stimulate the Fire element and assist in the movement of energy though the chakras and meridians.
